94 pts. Wine Review - @Diamantakis #Diamantopetra 2016

Crete, Greece

With the arrival of hot weather and outdoor meals, we turn to more white wines to accompany lighter foods. This crisp yet rich blend from Greece's #Diamantakis Winery in #Crete, is a winner! I discovered it recently at a tasting of wines from Crete, hosted by #CreticosWines.

It's made from a 50/50 blend of #Vidiano & #Assyrtico. Each varietal was vinified separately in stainless steel before blending, then spent 3 months of further aging in oak. Highly fragrant with notes of pineapple, apricot, camomile, dried fruits, nuts, vanilla and citrus. Full-bodied and rich, yet crisp, with delicious long apricot/vanilla finish. Easy to see why it won Gold at the 2016 Greek Wine Awards. This wine keeps very well in the fridge for up to several days, maintaining excellent structure and balance. l highly recommend trying this refreshing white next time you're looking for a new summer wine. Serve with smoked cheeses or seafood. 94 pts. Available from: https://en.creticos.com/collections/wine or at SAQ. Tasted May 2018.
