Brač, Croatia
I loved this Pošip from the first sip! It is an indigenous Croatian varietal, grown on the island of
Brač, along the Dalmatian coast. Pale yellow with a green hue, it has pretty aromas of tart apricot and peach, melon, citrus and tarragon. The fullbodied palate echos these notes and adds ripe pineapple to these flavours along with a touch of salinity. There's a satiny rich mouthfeel and mouthwatering acidity. An intriguing bitterness on the finish suggests lime zest. This is a perfect pairing for seafood, especially oysters, octopus or grilled shrimp.
There's an interesting story about the label; the ivory colour represents the limestone rocks on the beautiful island of Brač, where the Stina vineyards are located. The word "Stina" means stone in Croatian. The name "Inspiration" refers to the fact that this island has long been a place that attracts poets, sculptors and artists, who draw inspiration from its beauty and the surrounding Adriatic Sea. I highly recommend this wine and will definitely order it again.
