A great wine for under $10.00? Yes!
I love Sangiovese and this lip-smacking, fruity version is one more example of why. Tart cherry and sweet spice aromas followed by a delicious palate full of more cherry, vanilla, sweet spice, tobacco and dark chocolate. Vibrant acidity makes it sooo food-friendly, especially with pasta or chicken in tomato sauce, or a platter of cheese and salumni.
What does vibrant acidity in a wine mean? Well, basically it means that the sweet and tart aspects are in balance with one another. The result is that the wine is appetizing; it tastes crisp and refreshing in your mouth. This is what makes Sangiovese such a versatile pairing with food. It has a flavourful persistent finish, too.
This wine gives a lot of value per bottle and just might become my own "house wine".
The other great thing about this Fantini Sangiovese is the price; less than $10.00! At this price, order a case.
